On the home front we had a massive storm on Saturday giving us 23mm, just under an inch.
It's much needed as our paddocks have been starting to look a bit dry!.
We're also making preparations for our annual brand & will be mustering all our cows in the next fortnight, weather depending.

Lest we forget

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Lest we forget.

Calving time!

I love this time of year, even if we are averaging 33 degrees celcius or above during the days.  The good thing about the heat is that it also means it's storm season, with mother nature putting on some extremely impressive lightning shows lately.  It is also calving & foaling season which is always exciting.  Last year we chose not to breed any of our mares which means no foals for us this year.  We're instead making do anxiously watching our cows and maiden heifers have their babies.

So far two of my grown up poddies have had their first babies over the course of the last week.  Here are some happy snaps.  Enjoy! :-)
